iPad2 Sold Out On First Day

People started to turn up at mid-night on Thursday at EpiCentre in Wheelock Place, one of the authorised Apple relailers where sales of the tablet computer started on Friday.

By the time the store opened its doors at 10 am, more than 120 people were in the queue.

Ten hours is worth the wait for the iPad2, everyone likes it because it's so functional, said one customer, who paid $978 for his 32GB Wi-Fi and 3G model.

The iPad2 was launched in the United States last month.

The original iPad, which made its debut last year, has sold more than 15 million units worldwide.

EpiCentre which has six outlets said its entire iPad2 stock was sold out yesterday.  It declined to reveal sales figures.

The iPad2 was also sold out at Best Denki, Nubox and Challenger outlets.
